Purple and Orange RR15
$50.00 USD
This is a very close-up view (4x life-size) of newly spawned 3mm (0.12 inches) eggs of a fish species called spotty-bellied greenlings (Hexagrammos agrammus). The characteristic contrast of purple and orange hues makes these eggs easy to identify, as does the fact that the papa fish usually stands guard adjacent to or not from the eggs. The orange droplets are fats and oils necessary for embryo development. Why the eggs are purple, I’ve no idea. The adults are drab and mottled in appearance, thought their eyes are highlighted with orange.
